Pubs and breweries have been at the heart of villages, towns and cities across the UK for centuries and are essential to our economy, social lives and communities. However, over the past twenty five years taxes have increased to the point where pubs and breweries find themselves overtaxed and under pressure.
That's why Long Live the Local are calling for change, by asking the government to:
Extend the current lower level of VAT for food and beverages sold in pubs with a view to making this permanent
Reduce beer duty and alcohol duty which would support British pubs and beer as a lower strength product
Lower business rates for pubs equitable to other similar businesses
In return, these changes would allow pubs and breweries to grow, creating stronger and more connected communities, local investment, jobs and a thriving industry to be proud of!
